South Asian Writers started as a Twitter hashtag that went viral in 2017 highlighting and elevating writers of South Asian descent
We invited writers from all over the world to introduce themselves and their work, using #SouthAsianWriters. 3,000,000 people engaged with the campaign with submissions coming in from the UK, South Asia, the US, and Canada.
South Asian Writers was a proud partner of the UK’s first ever South Asian Heritage Month in 2020.
We’ve supported the literature side of SAHM for two years with; author spotlights, guest posts, book giveaways, interviews, panels, and our memory curation project, Our Stories Matter.
We continue to platform and amplify the work of writers and creators from the South Asian diaspora and aim to show how talented, diverse, and intersectional our community really is.
